Designing out waste: Plastic-free packaging

We have eliminated plastic packaging from 90% of our total product portfolio, and we are commited to deliver 100% plastic-packaging free products to our customers.

At Colebrook Bosson Saunders, we are committed to harnessing design and creativity to eliminate waste and minimise our environmental impact. A key focus of our sustainability efforts is to phase out plastic packaging from our entire product portfolio. This initiative addresses the significant environmental concerns associated with plastic waste.

Our teams have developed paper-based packaging solutions that ensure our complex products reach their destinations in perfect condition without relying on single-use plastics. These paper-based materials are environmentally friendly, being both biodegradable and recyclable, with established recycling infrastructure widely available.

"We were inspired to remove single-use plastics from our products after learning of the impact that this category of plastics has on the environment, most notably the oceans. Paper-based solutions seemed the obvious route because they are both biodegradable and recyclable," said Alexander Ambridge, Designer. Nick Burgess, Operations Project Manager, added, "Our goal was to implement plastic-free packaging solutions for both new and existing products to reduce the environmental impact of packaging, thereby improving our products and our customers' end-user experience."

This effort in creating plastic-free product packaging has been a breakthrough for many of our employees, showcasing the tangible difference they can make. It has contributed to delivering innovative, conscious, and effective packaging design solutions. Our work on packaging continues as we strive to further minimise the environmental impact of packaging.
